Meet Emily Schreiber.  She is one incredibly awesome young lady!

At age 9, Emily was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF is an inherited chronic disease that affects a person's lungs & digestive systems. About 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide) are affected by this disease.

A defective gene causes the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that: clogs the lungs which leads to life-threatening lung infections and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.

In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived long enough to attend elementary school. Fifty years later advances in research and medicine have enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF extending their lives into the 30s, 40s and beyond!

Emily doesn't let CF slow her down.  She wanted to help find a a cure for this debilitating disease & on her own, founded the Laps for CF Foundation, a non-profit organization to raise research funds and awareness for for Cystic Fibrosis.  In the ensuing years (now 14) with the help of various partners such as Auburn University, Emily's swimming laps have grossed over $1 million dollars.

Starting immediately, Par Pool & Spa will partner with BioGuard to support Emily's efforts through the BioGuard Splash for CF program. Now through 2008, a portion of every sale of BioGuard Silk Tabs & Silk Sticks, Smart Sticks & Pool Pods will be donated to Laps for CF.
